If you're listening God, I need a Chiir

By Wally Jeter

News flash: The Pilots are going to have a reasonably bare cupboard in the 2015-2016 season. They will be losing starters Thomas van der Mars, Volodymyr Gerun (5th year NCAA exclusion?), Kevin Bailey, and occasional starters Riley Barker and Bobby Sharp. That's a lot of minutes to fill for the current roster of Freshmen and soon to be Freshmen. Seems to me that there will be a lot of opportunities for some young bucks to grab some spotlight.

Enter incoming Freshman man of mystery Chiir Maker. Little is known about Mr. Maker. His name can even be found online under multiple spellings of "Chiir" but I will trust the UP website. Chiir (pronounced "Share") is a 6'7'' 190lb South Sudan native whose family immigrated to Australia and has been bulldozing the competition ever since. Chiir's school Newington has won gold medal honors at three straight National School Championships. And from 2010 to 2013, they have also won a treasure trove of regular season championships.

Now I have no idea of the competition level of whatever leagues he's playing in but he does have size and potentially some serious athleticism. Want more proof? Check out this youtube video filmed inside a grade school sized gym from a bad angle:

If Maker's last name sounds familiar, it's probably because you've heard of his cousin Thon Maker. Thon is a 7ft tall monster also playing high school ball in Australia (soon to be Canada). Thon is currently the #1 rated player in the ESPN Class of 2016 rankings. He's good at basketball:

Most likely he will be a long term project, but I would commit some unforgivable crimes for a 6'7'' athletic wing who could shoot the 3 and finish in traffic......
