Game Notes: Portland Pilots vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs

By Wally Jeter

  • For a few seconds there I was feeling a little deja vu'. Are we going to be charging the court again this year? Afraid not, we cut the 21 point deficit to 5 points but that would be as far as the Pilots could take it. Very reminiscent of the BYU game on Monday. Pilots keep making it so hard for themselves.
  • On the other hand, can't say I was too impressed with the Bulldogs tonight either. When the Pilots started putting the pressure on, no one from the Zags seemed to want to take charge of the offense. Unless the massive Polish Power Karnowski was directly under the hoop, he would pass it out (with the exception of a 3 pointer he hit in the 2nd half when no one was guarding him which made the arena erupted. Did he know the shot clock was reset to 15 seconds?!?!?). Pangos didn't know what to do either. Gary Bell Jr. seemed to be the only one from the Zags taking it to the hoop and trying to make something happen.
  • In case you were wondering.... Alec Wintering is still hot and Bobby Sharp is still a scary clutch shooter (and gambling line killer).
